A colorful yard full of native wildflowers

Nestled beside a charming 1930s home, this wild garden sanctuary transforms an ordinary yard into a vibrant mountain meadow escape. Drawing inspiration from Colorado's natural landscapes, we've designed a whimsical, color-rich environment that feels both relaxing and serene - perfect for the desire to entertain, relax with a book, or enjoy family BBQs throughout the week.
The garden embraces curves and informal pathways made of native flagstone and gravel, creating natural flow between outdoor living spaces. A thoughtfully placed maple tree (Autumn Blaze) provides dappled shade for the patio area, while strategic plantings of Black Eyed Susans, Rocky Mountain Columbine, and various native yarrows create splashes of color that attract pollinators. The garden's palette of whites, pinks, blues, and purples unfolds throughout the seasons, with special attention to fall displays to honor the client's favorite season.
For privacy along the neighboring fences, we've incorporated a mix of taller natives like Russian Sage and Lupine, complemented by the client's beloved hydrangeas and a beautiful Common Lilac and Beauty of Moscow Lilac. The Carol Mackie Daphne adds wonderful fragrance near seating areas, while textural elements come from soft Lamb's Ear and architectural Coneflowers. Throughout the design, we've prioritized drought-tolerant Colorado natives like Beardtongue and False Indigo, ensuring this wild garden maintains its ecological impact while requiring minimal maintenance - perfect for the preference of 4 hours or less of garden care per week.
