In honor of this month’s Pink moon let’s talk about the unique and sensory-driven alternative to the traditional garden - the Moon Garden.

What is a Moon Garden?

Moon gardens are landscaped with gray, white, silver, and lightly colored plants. When the moon is full, they reflect the light creating a beautiful glow. Many of the plants we choose for client’s moon gardens open at night and release intoxicating fragrances.

Moon Garden Blooms:

Moonflower

Nicotiana

Evening Primrose

Angel’s Trumpet

Cleome

Tip: If you plant fragrant flowers close to your home, you can open the window and take advantage of the aromas.

Moon Garden Foliage:

Mugwort

Dusty Miller

Lamb’s Ear

Silver Thyme

Silver Sage

Tip: Lanterns or uplighting on trees can provide supplemental lighting on moonless nights.

The Magical Moon Garden

Carve out space in the night to sit, relax, and observe the sounds and scents that only fill the air when the sun sets. Imagine sitting in your garden, basking in the moonlight, crickets are chirping and the gentle breeze is enveloping you in the sweet lemony smell of moonflowers. Talk about a moment to savor!
